It’s an Unedited Artists (Kristin Fieseler of Annex Dance and Jonathan Kammer, Saxophone join us) Locals Only celebration of the Golden Age of American Song – contrasted with bits of chamber music coming out of the European Theater – as we celebrate and groove to the tunes of the US of A from 1914-1945. While the world was in turmoil, American spirits were buoyed by the music of greats like Garland and Harris and hits by Kern, Gershwin, and Rodgers & Hammerstein. Wear those ruby slippers and get ready to kick your heels up with Quentin Baxter, Jeremy Wolf and Richard White Jr. – because there’s no place like home…
And don’t forget, preshow dance lessons start at 6PM!

Songs of Freedom: A Library Sit-in
Lift every Voice and Sing as we put a unique spin on the songs of Liberty and Justice for All in the very place and institution that hatched so many of America’s Revolutionary Ideas. There’ll be great conversations Blowin in the Wind as we celebrate the sounds of change, civil rights, and independence through the songs of Guthrie, Marvin Gaye, and the Civil Rights Song Book compiled by Guy and Candy Carawan. With special guest choir from Charleston Collegiate School and a Charleston Band that embodies the beautiful harmonies of our wonderful and talented community, come help us raise the roof @ 164 King Street as we Let the Sunshine in!

The American Songbook…Unedited!
It’s our Series Finale – A singalong for the Audience, a tour through some of the better known and often misunderstood songs of the American Folk, Jazz, and Popular Standards. Running the gauntlet from Neil Lehrer, John Prine, and David Margolick, to Nellie McKay and others – We are going to take you on an innovative journey through the evolution of American Songs. With witty narration along the way, be prepared to Laugh and Learn, Sing and Sigh and marvel at the Tableau Vivante with an all-star cast (The Library Chamber Ensemble with Theatre Marvelosa) and your favorite Unedited Emcee, Laura Ball, as we toast the completion of our Series Journey and raise a glass to the surprises and entertainment to come in Season 4!
